Sodium Hyaluronate

With multiple biological functions, sodium hyaluronate has been widely used in cosmetic products development. The vigorous development of the medical aesthetics market has led to a growing demand for high-quality sodium hyaluronate. Creative Biolabs is always confident in offering the most reliable and highest quality research-grade sodium hyaluronate to help our clients break down barriers.

Introduction of Sodium Hyaluronate

Sodium hyaluronate is the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid that is composed of disaccharide units of sodium glucuronide-N-acetylglucosamine. In mammals, sodium hyaluronate is a visco-elastic polymer widely distributed in the extracellular matrix of connective, epithelial, and neural tissues, as well as the corneal endothelium. Studies have shown that sodium hyaluronate is involved in diverse biological processes, such as cell differentiation, inflammation, embryological development, and wound healing.

With the specific properties including high hygroscopicity, viscoelastic nature, biocompatibility, and non-immunogenicity, sodium hyaluronate is one of the most widely used active ingredients in cosmetic formulations. Its hydrophilic nature allows it to moisturize the skin and improve elasticity. At the same time, its potential antioxidant effect can protect human skin from the injurious impact of UV radiation. A series of in vitro and in vivo studies have shown that the efficacy of sodium hyaluronate treatment also includes anti-inflammatory, skin regeneration, chondroprotective, and immunosuppressive effects.

Applications of Sodium Hyaluronate

As we age, our cells gradually lose their ability to produce hyaluronic acid, leading to dry skin, aging skin, and the appearance of wrinkles. Sodium hyaluronate has potential moisturizing and anti-aging effects. In recent years, it has been widely used in multiple fields, including arthrology, ophthalmology, aesthetic medicine, oncology, and cosmetics.

In the cosmetic industry, more than 95% of the total cosmetic products contain sodium hyaluronate and the product types mainly include creams, lotions, serums, and masks. What’s more, additional bioactive compounds, such as plant extracts, vitamins, probiotics, amino acids, peptides, proteins, etc., are often added to cosmetics to further enhance product efficacy.
