Human Skin Model

The cosmetic industry has a long history and technological advancements have made them available to the masses. 3D human skin models have become the latest tool for non-animal testing in the skincare and cosmetic market. The human skin model from Creative Biolabs is a laboratory-grown skin test platform to discover the potential effects of skincare products, cosmetics, health products, etc. on human skin. Our comprehensive capabilities allow for a full range of testing.

The Introduction of Human Skin Model in Cosmetic

The safety testing of cosmetics mainly relies on animal testing, which has been strongly opposed by animal protection organizations. The efficacy testing of cosmetics is generally achieved through in vitro cell tests, but given the complexity of human skin tissue, it is difficult to reflect the real situation. In recent decades, the development of alternative approaches for skin irritation and genotoxicity testing has been a worldwide trend. To better reproduce human biology, our developed ex vivo human skin models are derived from real human skin tissue to obtain the closest test results.

It has been reported that the human skin model can be used to evaluate various skin disorders, such as skin barrier disorders, atopic dermatitis (AD), skin permeation, etc. Based on the current models and tools, our human skin models preserve the structure of natural skin, including cell population and dermal matrix. Our model can simulate different types of skin bacteria or skin microbiomes to test the efficacy of each cosmetic ingredient. What's more, our model can not only simulate the real condition of cosmetics applied to the skin but also convert subjectively judged efficacy into specific data output, providing a more objective, scientific, and accurate evaluation model for cosmetic efficacy evaluation.
