Custom Cosmetic Peptide Modification

  • N-Terminal Peptide Modifications
  • In general, chemically synthesized peptides contain free amino-terminal. To make synthetic peptides more closely mimic the charge state in natural proteins, N-terminal acetylation can stabilize synthetic peptides and enhance their ability to resist enzymatic degradation by exopeptidases. Some N-terminal modifications can introduce dyes or tags to visualize the areas where peptides accumulate, and some can be used as immune aids to enhance antibody production or allow peptides to be conjugated to other biomolecules.

  • C-Terminal Peptide Modifications
  • The default C-terminal of a peptide is either a free carboxylic acid or an amide. Amidation of the C-terminus may reduce the overall solubility of the peptide, but it will make the peptide closer to the natural protein, and therefore may increase the biological activity of the peptide. What’s more, C-terminal modification may improve the stability of the peptide and prolong the shelf life.

  • Internal Modifications
  • Internal modification refers to the process that unusual or specifically derivatized amino acids are used for the modification of synthetic peptides. The internal modifications can improve the stability of peptides to enzymes and involve the regulation of biological processes.

  • Cyclization
  • Cyclized peptides present multiple applications in biomedicine, and many natural peptides with biological activity are cyclized peptides. Cyclization is the most direct way to synthesize cyclic polypeptides, especially for polypeptides with larger structural skeletons. Cyclization can be achieved in different methods, such as sidechain-to-sidechain type, terminal-to-sidechain type, and head-to-tail type.

  • Cell Penetrating Peptide
  • In cell biology, one of the most major problems is the inefficient transfer delivery of peptides/proteins from the outside to the inside of intact cells. Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) are short peptides that can easily cross cell membranes to facilitate cellular intake. In this case, cell-penetrating sequences can be used as extensions to a peptide cargo sequence thereby making it more permeable to cell membranes.

In addition to the items listed above, we can provide more peptide modification and coupling services. If you have any custom cosmetic peptide synthesis or modification requirements in mind, we can provide any peptide in any quantity or purity. Please do not hesitate to contact us for a quote.
