Human Skin Model for Antimicrobial Protection Test Service

The cosmetic industry has a long history and technological advancements have made them available to the masses. 3D human skin models have become the latest tool for non-animal testing in the skincare and cosmetic market. The human skin model from Creative Biolabs is a laboratory-grown skin test platform to discover the potential effects of skincare products, cosmetics, health products, etc. on human skin. Our comprehensive capabilities allow for a full range of testing.

Human Skin Model for Antimicrobial Protection Test

Bacterial skin infections are very common, and they can interfere with normal life and even be life-threatening. Depending on the types of bacteria, the location of the infection, and the age of the patient, the pattern of bacterial infection may vary. In general, most bacterial infections are caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.

Our developed human skin models can be used to validate cosmetic products that help treat damaged skin conditions. Equipped with the unique technology, our human skin models allow to be colonised with various microorganisms for the study of microbiological systems or the influence of antimicrobials. For example, dermatophytes can be colonized to verify the antifungal effect of cosmetic products, P. acnes can be colonized to verify the efficacy of cosmetic products against acne-related infections.

The Most Common Bacterial Infections

  • Caused by many types of bacteria, especially Staphylococcus and Streptococcus, cellulitis affects the two deepest layers of the skin—the dermis and the subcutaneous tissue.
  • Caused by Streptococcus bacteria, erysipelas infects the top two layers of the skin.
  • Bacterial folliculitis is a relatively common infection of the hair follicles usually caused by fungi, ingrown hair, or skin blockages.
  • Caused by the Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria, hot tub folliculitis typically shows up on the chest or groin.
  • Caused by staph bacteria, carbuncles always develop on the back, thighs, or back of the neck.
  • Caused by Streptococcus and Staphylococcus, impetigo is a bacterial infection of the top layer of epidermal skin.
  • Caused by the Corynebacterium minutissimum bacteria, erythrasma is a superficial skin infection
