Total Gram-Negative Test

Creative Biolabs is a leading service provider that focuses on cosmetic microbiological tests. Now we are proud to provide the total gram-negative test for our clients all over the world.

The Necessity of Total Gram-Negative Test

Microbes in cosmetics may cause product deterioration and harm the personal safety of consumers. These microorganisms may be harmful bacteria or other disease-causing organisms, so it is important to ensure that cosmetic products do not contain pathogenic (harmful) microorganisms. In order to ensure the product safety and compliance of cosmetics, cosmetic microbiology testing and microbiological identification must be carried out when cosmetics enter the market.

Creative Biolabs provides novel enrichment method for specific pathogen screening. To ensure that there are no harmful bacteria (even if the number is small), the test will enrich the bacteria by culturing the samples in an enrichment broth for 7 days.

The Testing Gram-Negative Organisms

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a common gram-negative rod-shaped bacteria. Due to its advanced antibiotic resistance mechanism, it has become a multi-drug resistant pathogen of considerable medical significance. In animals, it can cause organism infections, the symptoms of which are systemic inflammation and sepsis.

  • Escherichia coli
  • Escherichia coli, also known as E. coli, is a gram-negative bacteria that normally live in the intestines. Most E. coli strains are harmless, but certain serotypes (EPEC, ETEC, etc.) can cause severe food poisoning of the host. As the most widely studied prokaryotic model organism, it is an important species in the fields of biotechnology and microbiology.

  • Salmonella
  • Salmonella is a rod-shaped gram-negative bacteria that belongs to the family Enterobacteriaceae. There are two major species include Salmonella enterica and Salmonella bongori. Salmonella species are intracellular pathogens. In general, they can invade only the gastrointestinal tract and lead to salmonellosis.

  • Serratia
  • Serratia belongs to opportunistic gram-negative bacteria that can be isolated from water, soil, plants, and animals. Serratia marcescens is the primary pathogenic species of Serratia that leads to urinary tract infections, pneumonia, and endocarditis.

  • Enterobacter
  • Enterobacter belongs to the family of Enterobacteriaceae that is always associated with healthcare-related infections. Enterobacter species can lead to a series of nosocomial infections, such as urinary tract infections (UTI), soft tissue infections, respiratory infections, osteomyelitis, and endocarditis. What's more, enterobacter presents increasing resistance to many previously effective antibiotics.

  • Klebsiella pneumoniae
  • Klebsiella pneumoniae is a gram-negative rod-shaped bacterium. It is the most significant member of the genus Klebsiella of the Enterobacteriaceae in the clinical setting. The most common condition caused by Klebsiella bacteria is pneumonia that has a death rate of around 50%. Studies have shown that Klebsiella organisms are often resistant to multiple antibiotics.
